Purpose:  Established through a bequest from the Flora June Fredine in memory of her son who died in 1945 after serving with the Twenty-Eighth Army Division during the liberation of Europe. The scholarship exists to provide awards to "worthy scholars who otherwise might not receive a college or university education."

Criteria:

Graduating seniors from a Boone, Stephenson, Ogle or Winnebago County School who has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and shows financial need. (Financial need is defined as having an EFC of less than 10,000 for this scholarship.) May attend a college (including technical, business and community colleges) or university.

To apply for this scholarship, you must complete an online application and submit a packet of additional materials in hard copy.  Both of these components MUST be RECEIVED by the March 1st deadline.

The scholarship packet requires your school counselor, registrar or principal to verify your academic information so be sure to allow sufficient time to submit the application.  Incomplete and late applications will not be accepted.
