Jon W. Lundin Historic Preservation

Celebrating Rockford’s history; inspiring the community to value its traditions; preserving historical integrity; and investing in our heritage to help Rockford grow.

In May 2007, CFNIL established the Jon W. Lundin Historic Preservation Grant Program in memory of Jon Lundin, husband of CFNIL's former President, Gloria Lundin, and beloved friend and community advocate of Rockford, IL. Over $40,000 was contributed to the Jon W. Lundin Historic Preservation Fund by family, colleagues and friends all over the country.

Jon W. Lundin, born in 1943, was a social entrepreneur instrumental in the creation and development of numerous non-profit organizations and altruistic endeavors. A life-long resident of Rockford with a passion for regional Illinois history, he was active in both national and local organizations promoting historic preservation, including the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Rockford Historical Society, Restoration Education, Inc. and the Rockford Museum Association. Author of Rockford – An Illustrated History and Master Inventor: How Howard D. Colman Created A Multi-National Corporation, Jon was often referred to as Rockford’s historical conscience.
